A diesel fire pump has to start and run when the building's fire protection depends on it. Premier Mechanical installs and upgrades the fuel tanks and piping that serve diesel fire pumps, corrects deficiencies identified in inspections, and coordinates with the fire-protection contractors and consultants responsible for the pump itself.

Who This Service Is For

  • Owners and managers of buildings with diesel-driven fire pumps
  • Fire-protection contractors who need a fuel-system specialist
  • Consulting engineers specifying fire-pump room work
  • Industrial and warehouse facilities with dedicated fire-pump rooms

Situations We Resolve

  • An inspection has cited deficiencies in the fire-pump fuel tank or piping
  • A fire-pump room is being renovated or the pump is being replaced
  • The existing tank or piping is deteriorated or does not suit current requirements
  • Fuel in the fire-pump tank has not been tested or maintained for some time

How a Project Proceeds

  1. Review

We review the inspection report or project drawings and confirm the existing tank, piping and room layout on site.

  2. Coordination

We confirm the division of work with the fire-protection contractor and any consultant before work is scheduled.

  3. Planning the outage

Any period when the fire pump is impaired is planned with the owner so required fire-protection impairment procedures can be followed.

  4. Installation and correction

Fuel-system work is completed and checked against the scope and the cited deficiencies.

  5. Turnover

Documentation is provided so the owner can close out the inspection or the project.

Working in Occupied Facilities

Fire-pump work affects a building's fire protection, so the timing of any impairment is agreed with the owner in advance. We keep the outage as short as practical by preparing materials beforehand and coordinating directly with the fire-protection contractor.
